Ford plans to release 12 new models by the year 2020. The Shelby Mustang, Focus RS, GT350R, F-150 Raptor and GT supercar will be launched in the first phase. The 2017 Fiesta RS will fall in the second phase and will be released at the end of 2016 as a 2017 model.
2017 Ford Fiesta RS Exterior
The 2017 Ford Fiesta RS is still in its development phase but from the information we have received, we have managed to put together the new models’ specs. The automobile will adopt the Ford Global B platform with either three or five doors. The new mini is expected to weigh less than 2700 lbs. The car will feature 17-inch aluminum wheels and a wheel base of 98 inches.
The car will stretch 160.1 inches long with a width of 71.6 inches and a height of 57.2 inches. The front fascia will have a large trapezoidal chrome grille. The front and rear bumpers will also be enlarged. The vehicle will also feature redesigned side air dams and a new front splitter which we believe will be carved in carbon-fiber.
The 2017 Ford Fiesta RS will also feature redesigned LED headlights and taillights. The back will also feature a large huge spoiler. The rear bumper has also received some new touches and comes with an integrated diffuser with chrome double exhaust.
2017 Ford Fiesta RS Interior
The 2017 Ford Fiesta RS will receive a racing-like interior which has borrowed much from the Ford Focus RS. The cabin will be slightly larger from the predecessor model and will be made from premium materials and finished in chrome details.
The interior will accommodate five passengers. The new features will include a flat-bottom steering wheel, redesigned shifter and alloy sports pedal. The rear seats will be covered in premium leather and Recaro sports seats on the front. We believe the vehicle will also feature SYNC connectivity that will include an 8-inch touch screen to be offered as standard. The screen will have enhanced MyFord Touch infotainment system. It will also have a new sports telescopic leather steering wheel and a built-in automatic climate control.
Engine, Specs and Performance
Ford is yet to release details about the engine it will fit in its new supermini. However, all pointers lead to the possibility of a 1.6 L 4-cylinder EcoBoost turbocharged engine similar to the one on the Fiesta ST. The engine will be boosted so as to provide an output in the range of 240 hp and 250 lb-ft of torque.
The engine will have direct fuel injection with an automatic start/stop system. It will have estimated fuel economy of 26 mpg, 35 mpg and 28 mpg for city, highway and combined. It will have an acceleration of 0-60 mph in 5.9 seconds with a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/hr). The engine will be paired with a six-speed manual or automatic transmission system.
Price and release date
We believe this automobile will be released in the market in the end of 2016 or early 2017. To lay your hands on one of the super mini hatchbacks, you will have to part with around $ 27,000.
Update:
According to the latest information Ford unfortunately will skip the Fiesta with the RS symbol for production in 2017. But for lovers of speed and power Ford has prepared a new 2017 Fiesta ST200 and presented at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show.

When in 2017 is the new RS FIesta on the market as my ST is up fear renewal then would love the new RS model
without the RS they are doomed at the likes of a Clio RS with 275 bhp killing the super mini market. Missed Opportunity for Ford!
If they are shooting for 240 HP just put 2.0 from fusion escape etc as it is plus less stress on 1.6. And use auto as well so place that have too many demands stoplights less legwork. Like here in Vegas all unsyncronized.
