The Ford Edge is a young crossover having been launched in 2007. However, it is one of Ford’s first mid-size crossovers. Its excellent blend of wagon and sedan body styles coupled with a height of a SUV has made it very popular in the market.
Now, the blue oval automaker is set to offer a redesigned model of the Edge for the 2017 model year. The 2017 Ford Edge comes hooked up with a host of new features to make it even better in the market. The model will be offered in four trim levels, they are SE, SEL, Titanium and Sport. Read along to find out more:
2017 Ford Edge Exterior
Ford built the Edge with American buyers in mind. Its exterior profile goes a long way to support this fact. At the front, the Edge features a gigantic chromed grille which is flanked by wrought LED headlights.
Below the grille is a huge bumper integrated with LED fog lights. The bumper is also integrated with a modified air intake to channel more cooling air to the engine. Its headlights have also been redesigned and will feature LED lighting. The SEL adds heated mirrors.
LED lighting will also be featured on the rear. The rear also features two exhaust pipes each on either side. The base model rides on a set of 18-inch alloy wheels but higher trims will ride on 19-inches.
2017 Ford Edge Interior
Sliding inside the cabin of the new Ford Edge, you will find a comfortable interior with a space that comfortably accommodates five passengers. The base model comes standard with a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel and a 4.2-inch touch-screen display.
Its rear seat has a 60/40 split folding capability which comes in handy when more cargo space is needed. The trim also features a Premium audio system with Pandora internet radio. A CD player Bluetooth connectivity, Smartphone integration and Auxiliary inputs are also offered. Other features include cruise control, automatic air conditioning, a rear-view camera and voice recognition.
The SEL features most of the SE equipment but comes with a number of optional packages. One such package is the Equipment package which features MyFord infotainment system, 2 configurable monitors, a supplementary USB port and an 8-inch touch-screen display. The packages add leather upholstery, 8-way power adjustable driver’s seat, a power anterior seat among other features.
The Titanium trim on the other hand features heated front seats, a reclining front passenger seat, and driver memory settings. More features will be available on the top Sport trim.
Engine Specs and Performance
The new Ford Edge 2017 comes with similar drive-trains as those of the outgoing model. There are three engines. The base engine is a 2.0 EcoBoost 4-cylinder engine. The engine is capable of producing 245 hp and 275 lb-ft of torque.
The second engine is a Duramax 3.5 L V-6 mill capable of producing 280 hp and 250 lb-ft of torque. The third and the most potent engine is an EcoBoost 2.7 L V-6 engine. The engine produces 320 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque.
The three engines are mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission system. For more engaged driving, buyers can opt for the optional 6-speed manual transmission system. The Edge will be offered in both front-end all-wheel drive modes.

Is blind spot monitoring standard or available on any models? Are power seats standard or available on passenger front seats on any models?
I hope the drivers arm rest has been improved for 2017. I drove a 2016 rental and the arm rest has been moved back a bit. Your elbow rests on the seam on the end of the arm rest and is uncomfortable. Has this been corrected?
What colors are available on the 2017 Edge. 2016 they had “To blue to be true”, are they offering it on the 2017? Or any unique color besides the usual , red, blue, black, white, gray/silver.?
When will 2017 Ford Edge Sport models hit the dealer Showrooms?

I know it is very similar to the 2016, but, can anyone list specific differences between the 16 and 17, particularly in regards to electronics and entertainment? Thanks.
I don’t like, that here in germany they give us only the choice between two diesel engines an no gas engine. So I think about to import an US-spec-sport-model. Is it correct, that the Edge has HID (Xenon) head lights in the USA? In Germany, they have Full-LED lighting for high/low-beam. I am confused about the specs of the us-configuration on the ford Homepage (US). Thanks!
