The Ford Fiesta Red and Black Edition have experienced huge success in Europe. Likewise, half of Zetec S models sold in the UK are the Red and Black Editions.
This has prompted the automaker to hook up the Focus with the same trimming in a bid to ride on the aforementioned models success. The models will be available as five-door hatchbacks or wagons.
2016 Ford Focus Red and Black Edition Exterior
The 2016 Ford Focus Red and Black Edition feature contrasting exterior paint works. For the Red Edition models, their exterior profile features a deep red Race Red color car and Shadow Black paint on door mirrors, wheels and the roof. Alternatively, the Black Edition features a Shadow Black overall body paint with its side mirrors, wheels and roof painted in race Red color.
At the front, the vehicles feature a honeycomb grille painted in deep red Race color for Black edition models and in Shadow Black for Red Edition models. The front also features a splitter and a boot spoiler on the rear. The models also feature side skirts borrowed from the Focus ST.
The models will ride on 5-spoke, 18-inch black alloy wheels with contrasting red brake calipers which complement its overall Red and Black contrasting look.
2016 Ford Focus Red and Black Edition Interior
Sliding inside, Ford has refreshed the cabin and made it look more elegant. The styling starts with the center console which has received a black finish. Move over to the new steering wheel wrapped with leather. Passengers will seat comfortably on its new black sports seats which feature a red contrast stitching. This contrast stitching is also featured on the black floor mats.
The handbrake, and gear knob are also wrapped in black leather with the signature contrast stitching. The vehicle also features electric windows and mirrors, a height-adjustable driver’s seat, air conditioning, a trip computer, cruise control and a quality audio system. The vehicle also comes with an 8-inch touch-screen which is integrated with the navigation system. Also featured as standard is the Ford Sync 2.0 system which enables Smartphone integration with the multimedia system.
Standard safety features include; hills start assist, a collision avoidance system, tire pressure monitoring as well as enhanced safety belts and air bags.
Engine Specs
When it comes to drive-trains, there are rumors that the models will be offered with 4 engine options, two petrol and two diesel engines. The first petrol engine will likely be a 1.0 L capable of producing 123 bhp while the second one will be a 1.5 L, engine good for 148 bhp.
Moving over to diesel engines, the likely units will be a 1.5 L which is capable of producing 118 bhp and a 2.0 L rated at 148 bhp. All engines will be paired with a 6-speed manual transmission system. Further, the engines will be equipped with a lower and stiffer suspension for quicker steering and better handling. They will also feature shorter gear ratios to improve acceleration.
Price and release date
As of this writing, official information on pricing and release date for the 2016 Ford Focus Red and Black Edition is yet to be released. However, we understand that the Black edition will cost about £ 1000 more than the Focus Zetec S.
Therefore, expect the model to start at around £21,795 for the hatchbacks. Wagons will cost around £ 1000 more. The 2016 Ford Focus Red and Black Edition will be availed in the first quarter of next year. The models were even expected to go on sale before the end of this year.
