Are you in the market for a really spacious SUV and the options you have tried fall short of your expectations? Well, probably you need to wait for a little longer. The 2016 Ford Excursion is rumored to be very competitive when it comes out in the market. The release of this heavy duty, full size sport utility vehicle has been delayed for quite some time now and details on its specs are still a highly guarded secret.
We believe the manufacturer is redesigning the model to wrestle control out of the SUV market segment from stronger rivals like the Toyota Sequoia and Chevy Suburban Class. The new 2016 Ford Excursion will have modern touches on it exterior and interior styling along with latest technological gadgets.
2016 Ford Excursion Exterior
There will a significant modification of the exterior though its recognizable look will still evident since it has been like 10 years since its last upgrade. The vehicle will be built on the same platform as the Ford F150.
The new 2016 Ford Excursion will have a more masculine and intimidating exterior look. Though exterior specs are still a closely guarded secret, we believe the automaker will hook the vehicle with a masculine and intimidating look that will stand out among its competitors. We also expect the 2016 Ford Excursion to feature modern touches to its exterior. Likely features may include muscular front fascia with LED headlights and taillights, daytime running lights as well as fog lights among other features common with SUVs.
2016 Ford Excursion Interior
Just as with the exterior specs, the interior specs also remain a mystery only Ford can solve for enthusiasts fans who are eagerly waiting. Nonetheless, to beat its competitors which include the GMC Yukon and Chevy Suburban Class, the vehicle will likely feature a stylish and comfortable interior along with modern gadgets.
One thing we are sure of is that the vehicle will have plenty of space for passengers and cargo; even tall passengers will have enough head and leg room. In terms of safety, we also expect the vehicle to feature an airbag package and a variety of driving aides. The vehicle will seat maybe 7 or 8 passengers across three rows of seats and as usual the rear seats will have a folding capability to increase cargo space when needed.
Engine Specs and Performance
According to our sources, the vehicle will likely have three engine options. The first and the only sure option is a 3.5L EcoBoost V6 unit that produces 365 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque. Fuel consumption for the 4×2 version is 16 city / 22 hwy / 18 combined mpg.
The other two engines are only in the domain of rumors.
The second engine option is a 6.2 L petrol V8 engine capable of producing 385 hp and 405 lb-ft of torque.
The last power-train is a 6,7 L power stroke V8 diesel engine that is capable of producing 440 hp and enormous 860 lb-ft of torque.
All engines will be mated with a 6-speed automatic SelectShift transmission system.
Price and release date
If there is something Ford has done with this vehicle, is to remain mum about its specs. Similar to other specs, the automaker has not made public details on the models price or release date.
However, according to rumors the 2016 Ford Excursion might be released in the second half of 2016, with a price tag of $ 38,000 to $ 43,000. Keep it here for up-to-date details on this model.
Last night ( 11-8-15 ) on NCIS New Orleans one of the police vehicles was badged as an Excursion with the new super duty front end!
We have been waiting for a new Excursion for some time. We still own a 2005. We have tried Navigators & Escalades. They have been uncomfortable and underpowered. We are also waiting for the BMW X7, so we do not mind paying the price for a well heeled vehicle.
The last excursions were based on the super dutys not f150 ?? Ford what are you doing
I agree. F250 frames please. Want to tow 10,000 pound trailer and take 6-8 people with gear. Nothing except the excursions have been able to do that! Don’t water it down
I am ready to order now and will pay cash
Let’s get a move on Ford. My 2000 Excursion needs to be replaced.
I can’t wait! My 2002 Excursion, nicknamed “the Black Pearl”, has 170,000 miles and runs like new. Absolutely incredible reliability. It is filled with memories of road trips with our 5 children. I plan to get a new one and pass the old one to one of my children in hopes it will never leave the family. I hope the new version still has the same amount of cubic feet for cargo.
I can’t wait! When can we order one?
Currently, Ford does not publish official information about the new Excursion, according to rumors appearance was rescheduled for 2017.
Best regards

Cant wait for new excursion.been driving one since 2004
Is it going to be a 1 ton too …………
I have a 2000 excursion with 206,000
And still runs good
I am on my second excursion and absolutely love it. I have 360,000 miles on this one my first one had 464,000 i pull a trailer all over the east coast my family loves it. I definitely will by a new one if it will pull like the original.
Ford, allow the regular guy to drive his family around safely while hauling a big freaking trailer so we can have fun.
Some people have more than 4 kids, ya think!!! common. Do it for the American Family.
Yea and make it a PS 6.7L to boot.
Please bring it back! We have 5 kids and a dog. We need the space and power!! Love our 2004 Excursion, but she’s getting worn out!
If it’s like tthe old ones sign me up! My 2003 Eddie has over 232,000 on it with 40k put on that v10 since we got it in 2015 with not much needed for repairs. We searched and searched for a long time for it and have not regretted getting it as it out does our 1997 454 k2500 (that’s actually a 1 ton suspension) suburban. If the new ones can do what this beast can do that would be amazing! This truck is so amazing my die hard Chevy husband transwered to the Ford side because of me and the quality of Ford verses the cheap horse power of chevy (used to hang out with race car drivers and they ran Chevy because it was cheap but used the best Ford parts like the 9inch rear end. If it’s the same as the older ones Ford will be happy as I know so many people that want an excursion soo bad after seeing ours and what it can do. If it’s based off the f150 we will Waite for the full size beast to come back. Wish they would make a bigger one like a 12-15 passenger Excursion since we have 6 kids and still growing family and k ow other big families that want a bigger 4×4 suv for there big families too.
