Like the old saying goes, “there is no smoke without fire”. Rumors about Ford’s intention to bring back the Ranger in 2019 have been making the rounds for a while now. Recently, a prototype was spotted. Just like the previous models, the 2019 Ford Ranger has a lot to bring to the table in terms of exterior and interior designs, engine performance and lots more.
Ford’s announcement and the birth of a new Ranger was a welcome development. The last Ranger model date as far back as 2011. Although the company has enjoyed huge sales returns on the F-150, it was still imperative that they give competitors such as Nissan, Chevrolet, and Honda, a run for their money when it comes to mid-sized trucks.
According to reports, a test run of the 2019 Ford Ranger prototype was carried out somewhere close to Ford’s headquarters. This is quite exciting but the truth remains that nothing concrete about the new Ranger has been released so far. However, we can make some interesting guesses based on what we expect; and most times they are correct or close to the real thing.

As expected, the 2019 Ford Ranger should be an upgrade when compared to current models. So if you are expecting to see a new generation design, you might be disappointed when the Ford Ranger is officially released. The prototypes spotted are of a global design. Though the Ranger destined for the United States might bear some slight differences and modifications both visually and mechanically.
2019 Ford Ranger Exterior
It is too early to judge, but if the prototype spotted during the latest test drive is anything to go by, then we can conclude that the body of the 2019 Ford Ranger may have a lot of similarities with previous Ranger models. But we earlier established that this could be a global model so there is a chance that adjustments would be made.
For now, there is a similarity between the twin-bar grille of the 2019 Ford Ranger and that of the 2018 F-15o Raptor. This body frame could also depict that Ford engineers are looking to adopt a combination of the current body design of the Ranger with that of the Everest SUV. The Everest version is expected to feature in a 2020 model of the Ranger SUV Derivative.
Interior
Well, unlike the exterior of the truck, it is yet to be seen if there will be major changes made to the previous Ranger’s interior design. However, we expect an interior that features state-of-the-art gadgets and materials.
The previous Ranger models have some really cool interior designs, so since the 2019 Ford Ranger is an upgrade, we expect more sophistication. More room and space for passengers and a cork-pit that features a better and improved visual and audio systems.
Engine and Performance
The powertrain of this new 2019 Ford Ranger is really difficult to predict right now but we can always use the F-150 Raptor and Previous Ranger models as yardsticks. So we expect the new Ranger to feature at least a turbocharged 2.3-litre-inline four in the case of a standard model and a 3.5-litre V6 engine for the sports model of the vehicle.
The 3.0-litre diesel V6 engine featured in the 2018 F-150 could also be adopted. Which ever engine Ford eventually adopts, it should fit right into the whole makeup of the new and special 2019 Ranger.
Price and Release date
We expect the new 2019 Ford Ranger to be unveiled sometime in the middle of the new year (2018).This speculation is based on the recurrent traditions that we have become accustomed to. Price, on the other hand, is not so hard to guess. Based on other Ranger models as well as competitors, the new 2019 Ford Ranger should cost within the range of $25,000-$40,000, valuations and market influences being huge determinants.
This price range is not fixed. A lot could change when the truck is officially released.
