Lincoln is trying to claim its space as one of the most popular luxury car brands in the U.S. In this regard, the manufacture will be following up the 2015 Lincoln MKS with the release of a new 2016 Lincoln MKS. The new model will be an improvement of the predecessor model in most aspects.
Exterior
The new Lincoln MKS 2016 will adopt the Ford Taurus ancient heritage Volvo S80 platform. The manufacturer has redesigned the exterior to give it a modern look. The overall look will be stylish with a lot of chrome details not forgetting the signature front fascia which features broad grille in flying eagle style and distinctive headlights. The new sedan features a smooth body with soft lines and chrome details that add to its beautiful new look. The manufacturer has tried to give the front styling an American accent to identify with the American market. Most of the body had been made from aluminium and other light materials meaning the new Lincoln MKS will be significantly lighter than its predecessor.
2016 Lincoln MKS Interior
The interior has received a huge sprucing to offer premium comfort and luxury to passengers. To start with, the manufacturer has installed new seats that offer more comfort to passengers. These seats will be highly adjustable, heated and covered with premium quality material. Generally, the interior will be spacious with a lot of cargo space and passenger space. Other interior features will include guest ventilation controls, a dashboard made of quality wood which will have a redesigned central console .The manufacturer has also improved on other features that are in the current model to offer a smooth driving and handling experience.
Engine, Specs and Performance
The new 2016 Lincoln MKS will be offered in two engine options. The first option will be 2.9L EcoBoost 4-cylinder engine known as Nano. This engine will be installed in the lower trim levels. This nano engine is expected to produce around 300hp. For higher trim levels, the manufacturer will use a bigger 3.5L EcoBoost V6 engine that can produce around 365 hp. With this engine will accelerate from 0 – 60 mph in about 6 seconds, and will reach the top speed of 155 mph. The two engines will be paired with six speed automatic transmission systems. However, there is talk that future models in this series will be paired with a 9 speed automatic transmission system which is still in its developing stage. Though the vehicle will be offered in all wheel drive and front wheel drive modes, the models with the V6 engine will be exclusively offered in All Wheel Drive mode.
Price and release date
The next generation of Lincoln MKS is expected to hit showrooms either in late 2015 or early 2016; auto analysts predict that the manufacture will first introduce it during the New York Auto Show. The price for the new 2016 Lincoln MKS is expected to slightly increase from the current version which retails at around $ 41,320 for basic trim level.
Though the current generation of the model didn’t do well in the market, the new design together with the improved features and competitive pricing, the manufacture expects this model to have a improved competitive edge over its competitors. Its main rivals will be Cadillac XTS, Lexus ES and Buick Lacrosse.
